BBC – Freshers Week: Organised criminals targeting universities
This article from the BBC highlights the problems faced by students, who are commonly targeted by organised criminals.
New students starting university, are easy targets for these criminals looking to encourage students to take drugs, which can not only lead to illness and unfortunately in some cases death, but also can lead to them becoming involved in crime themselves.
Student safety and security are a very important part of the ProtectED Code of Practice, University Security teams are an important resource for universities to fight this sort of crime, and support students if anything does go wrong. You can read about the measures we recommend universities have in place to support their teams properly on our website. Read the full BBC article here.
