Under pressure to address sexual violence on campus, universities sign on to charter on sexual harm
Australian universities like those in the UK are struggling to address the sexual misconduct incidents on campus, and as with the UK universities were given guidance, which some have embraced, and some have not made enough changes, one thing is clear, this is a problem that is not going away. It will be interesting to see if any changes are demanded when the state, territory and federal education ministers meet next week to discuss how to respond to the sexual violence crisis at universities.
Within our Code of Practice we have a whole instrument dedicated to the prevention of student harassment and sexual assault, universities need to look at their policies and prevention strategies to ensure this is something that declines.
